Story Behind Photo 04. Something for all car-lovers.
I really loved everything about this car, but one day I decided that I need something much more reliable and a bit cheaper to run for everyday. I thought that I'll keep the Saab as a project and I'll improve it step by step. Unfortunately I neglected it. When I had another set of wheels to take me to work and everywhere else, I simply could not be bothered to work on Saab over weekends. Shame, because if I'd did, I would have another future classic now... Especially that this was the 900 turbo 'SE', with cream leather and almost all options fitted (incl. 4x electric windows, CD changer and other toys).
It is 2016 now, I'm unable to find another NG900 turbo in spec like that one. It's hard to find any NG900 turbo. Very rare.
Back at the time when I decided to buy another car, I was simply fed up with constant repairs and bills for parts, maybe that was the end of spending(?), maybe I was few feet away from the 'treasure' and I decided to back up. I don't know. But I know that this was the love at first sight and I should had fight for it more, back then. Shame on me even bigger - the car was taken by the DVLA truck to the compound, as at time it was not taxed. One of our 'nice', meddlesome neighbours must had reported this to DVLA. I was sure that the end of cul-de-sac, marked on a sign as 'private road' is safe enough, so I didn't park it outside our garage on the driveway, I left the car outside the house, but yes, on the road (technically). The DVLA came and issued the ticket and locked the front wheel. I didn't have money to pay the fine within their few days time scale, so they collected the car. I've tried to fight with them over the fact that sign said 'private road' - no luck. I wasn't happy at all, but shortly after this incident we have moved out from this 'friendly' area of nosy neighbours. But I remembered this car for long, I also spent a long time 'releasing' the grief.
So if you have a nice car that you love but it's driving you nuts for any reason, go one step further, above anything that tells you "it's time to leave" and keep it! This could be a future classic - and you just don't realise this fact now. Otherwise you'll surely regret your decision.
